In view of tomorrow's match between Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan at the Bay Arena, German centre-back, Jonathan Tah, spoke to the media in a press conference, along with coach Xabi Alonso (read his words here).
Here's what the 28-year-old player had to say:
"Tomorrow will be a big match against Milan, and we want to give 100%... One can always improve; there are small details to work on, and we want to do that. We will never say we are satisfied without improving."
What’s different compared to the last Champions League? Tah answered:
"It's hard to describe in just a few sentences, a lot has happened since then. You could say the club has grown a lot, and the coach has had a great impact. We are at a level where we can compete with the best."
How do you feel after a summer full of transfer rumours?
"I feel good here at Leverkusen. In the end, I stayed, and I’ve always had good communication with the coach, so everything is fine."
On facing Italian teams:
"It’s hard for everyone because they study the game differently, they are very tactical, and they defend very well. These are always high-level matches, and you always need a lot of patience. They are dangerous on the counterattack."
Tah, thoughts on the new Champions League format?
"There are so many matches, and there’s a lot of talk about this reform that increases the number of games. I prefer matches to training, but there must be a limit to the number of games. More matches mean more injuries."
