Strahinja Pavlovic has been sidelined by head coach Paulo Fonseca in recent matches. The Serbian centre-back had to sit on the bench because, according to the Portuguese tactician, Fikayo Tomori and Matteo Gabbia were doing well together in defence as continuity was also important.
It seems, however, that things might change soon and the former RB Salzburg defender may finally get another chance as a starter.

Strahinja Pavlovic is determined to earn his spot
As per the Italian newspaper today, Corriere dello Sport, the player in question wants to reclaim the trust of the coach.
He had started very well at the beginning of the season: even during the team's initial poor performances, he was always among the best, and he even scored a goal against Lazio.
Then came the poor performance against Liverpool and the benching in the derby victory over Inter.
These matches led Paulo Fonseca to consistently confirm the Tomori-Gabbia pairing, which performed very well in the derby, relegating the former RB Salzburg player to the bench.
Against Fiorentina, Tomori showed significant struggles, so in the first match after the break against Udinese, Pavlović could be seen starting again, paired with Matteo Gabbia.
