Antonio Di Gennaro was an assistant coach for Fatih Terim at AC Milan in 2001, and he experienced a complicated situation on the Rossoneri bench, similar to what Paulo Fonseca is facing now.
In an interview with TMW, the former coach explained what he believes are the main problems:
"I've been through moments like the derby, when I was under pressure. I know what it means. He needs to have control of the situation, but after what happened in Florence, there needs to be some serious reflection because that situation is a bit off. The Portuguese coach needs to regain authority and strength in setting the rules," as relayed via Milannews.it.
On Zlatan Ibrahimovic's role:
"It’s new to him, he needs to learn, but he has a great personality. He said he's the boss and in charge, so he made his intentions clear. However, when you change jobs, you have to learn; even Maldini said he made mistakes in his first six months. Since he and Massara left, something has changed. They need to rediscover what they built, as they brought in strong players and signed key contract renewals. Ibra needs to take on Maldini's mindset."
