At Maracanà, during the afternoon on TMW Radio, there was a special guest: former footballer and also ex sporting director of Lazio, Igli Tare.
Here are his words:
"Milan has a project similar to Juve's," said the Albanian. "They have a new coach and new players, so they need to find the team's leadership. Maignan is a leader, but other figures are missing. Giroud's departure was significant, and Pulisic still lacks personality. Leão and Theo aren't performing at their usual level. These things are currently creating challenges for Fonseca, but I believe Milan is strong and has great talent. For me, they will be a strong contender for the Scudetto, and they need to bounce back in the Champions League."
On Fiorentina, Tare said:
"As for Palladino, I think he's done a great job at Monza. In Florence, the expectations are different, but they made smart signings. It's a work in progress, and it will take a few months for them to perform at their best."
We saw Guardiola with Fazio; could he coach in Italy one day?
"I hope so, for the sake of Italian football. It would be fantastic. Knowing him and his connection with Brescia and the Italian people, I think Italy is the one thing missing for him to complete his cycle, and one day, this dream will come true. He needs to prove that he can win in a difficult footballing environment like Italy, although he doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone. The joke about Baggio isn’t really a joke (Guardiola said he'd coach in Italy only if Baggio would be with him); he wants to be surrounded by people who make him feel good. When we were players, we often had dinners at Giunti’s house; it was a ritual during our time at Brescia, and it was wonderful to hear him talk about football. You could tell he would become a great coach. I thought the same about him as I did about Simone Inzaghi—they are two natural-born coaches, destined to succeed."
When will you return? Tare replied:
"I hope soon, because vacations are nice, but they have to end. I want to find an ambitious project, and in that case, I'll return. Even starting from scratch with a club is appealing. Returning just for the sake of returning isn't right. In Italy, there are such opportunities."
