During his interview on Radio Anch'io Sport on Radio Rai, UEFA's Deputy General Secretary, Giorgio Marchetti, spoke about the new format of European competitions and the Super League project:
Is the new Champions League the final defeat of the Super League?
"We have a clear idea: sporting competitions in the European model are open. Those who deserve it participate, not those with a big name. This format evolution has only reinforced this: the format has changed, not the qualification criteria."
The UEFA Deputy General Secretary added:
"At the time, fans and everyone who loves football clearly expressed what they thought about the Super League project and why it was not suitable for European football."
