Interviewed by SportWeek, a supplement of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Devis Vasquez, the goalkeeper whom Empoli loaned from Milan with an option to buy, recounted his arrival at the Rossoneri in January 2023:
"Maldini and Massara wanted me. How did they discover me? I don’t know, but they showed that they knew me. They said they signed me for my qualities; they were convinced I would improve further, but they didn’t make any promises. I had been signed for the first team, and months later, I was the one who asked Maldini to play with the Primavera because I wanted to experience a match in Italian football."
Now the Colombian is playing regularly at Empoli, but his goal is still Milan:
"Seven matches are few to deserve a great club, but yes, as I am now, I feel ready. Milan is both a goal and a dream. Who wouldn’t want to play for one of the best clubs in the world?"
