Ruud Gullit gave an interview on the eve of Real Madrid - Milan.
The Dutchman was a key figure in the two-legged semifinal of the 1988/89 edition, which ended 1-1 at the Bernabeu and 5-0 for the Rossoneri at San Siro, with Gullit himself scoring along with Ancelotti, Van Basten, Rijkaard, and Donadoni.

That match opened the door to the Barcelona final, where Milan claimed their third European Cup with a 4-0 win over Steaua Bucharest.
"I have incredible memories, especially because we played against a great team and managed to win 5-0," he told Marca.
On the late Silvio Berlusconi:
"Berlusconi was one of the best presidents I could have imagined. Every week he would come to training, talk to us, and he was charismatic. He did a great job. I’m honoured to have had a president like him. I think the current president of Real Madrid has the same charisma. It’s important to have a leading figure who loves the club, who has that feeling, because then they know exactly what needs to be done and they bring passion to the team. That’s what they have in common."
Gullit added:
"Today’s teams are led by foreigners, by Americans who buy clubs to make money, not because of the club’s history. That’s why it’s sometimes hard to have that feeling. It’s no coincidence that the best clubs have someone who loves the club and knows its history at the helm."
