Speaking at the Rossoneri event 'Flames and Fear' at the 'Piola Arena' in Milan, former AC Milan sporting director Ariedo Braida reflected on past moments and touched on other topics concerning the current Rossoneri.
Here are his statements:
"Andrea Valdinoci had already seen him in France, even before I saw him in Kyiv with Galliani, and we decided to sign him. He had told me beforehand that I would like him. That evening in Kyiv, Fabrizio Galliani and Rezo Choconelidze, a historic Ukrainian executive, were also present. After the Dynamo Kyiv match, Rezo handed him a Milan jersey with the name Shevchenko on it, and I had him say in Ukrainian that with that jersey, he would win the Ballon d’Or. I said it to motivate him, to make an impression, but five years later, in 2004, it actually happened."
The ex Milan executive said
"And Weah? That negotiation was not easy at all, but George, at a certain point, gave up 2 billion lire to facilitate it, not just a hundred lire..."
Braida then concluded by discussing a current player, Christian Pulisic:
"A player who has surprised me is Pulisic. When he takes on an opponent, he has something of Pato in him, but when he sways, he reminds me of Donadoni."
