La Gazzetta dello Sport, on their website, talked about AC Milan's preparations to face Atalanta.
First and foremost, Maignan and Hernandez will return to their usual spots after missing the Sassuolo game (the goalkeeper due to dental issues, and the fullback because of a knock to the foot).
The absentees will include long-term injuries Ismael Bennacer (who, as scheduled, has resumed training at Milanello), Alessandro Florenzi, and Luka Jovic, as well as Marco Sportiello, who came off after one half in the Coppa Italia due to knee inflammation.
Mike Maignan’s backup will need further evaluation but is unlikely to travel to Bergamo. Loftus-Cheek, who was subbed off at halftime against Sassuolo with a calf contusion, is also doubtful; more clarity will come closer to matchday.
How will AC Milan play against Atalanta?
As for the starting eleven, there should be few doubts: Fonseca is inclined to once again field the lineup that performed very well against Empoli, the one that has provided the most balance in recent weeks.
On the right side of defense, Emerson Royal will return, and in front of Maignan, the center-back pairing will be Matteo Gabbia and Malick Thiaw.
The midfield hardly needs mentioning: it will be the usual duo of Fofana and Reijnders. Up front, Morata will be back, and in the attacking midfield, Musah is expected to be confirmed on the right (more of a wide player than a true attacking midfielder), with Christian Pulisic in the center and Leao on the opposite flank. Until Jovic returns, Francesco Camarda is likely to remain on the list of call-ups.
