Cafu gave an interview to AC Milan's official website just a few days before the match against Red Star Belgrade.
The Serbian side was the Rossoneri’s first opponent in the 2006/07 Champions League season, which the Diavolo ultimately won.
The "Pendolino" also spoke about his fellow countryman Emerson Royal.
What are your memories of Milan vs. Red Star?
"It was a beautiful game. Actually, both games were amazing. We knew it was a delicate and difficult match, but one we could win, and from there, we could reach where we ended up."
What was Cafu like at that time?
"I was a young man with experience—I was 36 years old (laughs). I always tried to do my best, and I felt great. The World Cup had just ended, and I wanted to put that behind me, so I threw myself 100% into Milan. After the World Cup, I had 10 days of vacation and immediately started training for this important match."
On Emerson Royal, Cafu said:
"Emerson, even in the national team, we know his potential and abilities. I hope he can do well in this team, in this beautiful club. He just needs to be himself and have the personality to play as he does for Brazil and as he has played to get here to Milan."
