The five summer signings of the Rossoneri seemed to have solved part of Milan’s problems from last season. While only one striker was needed to replace Olivier Giroud, the club management went as far as bringing in two to the San Siro: Abraham and Morata. However, so far, the two combined have scored less than half the goals of Mateo Retegui, who is currently the top scorer in Serie A.

Then there are Pavlovic and Emerson Royal, rounding out the signings with Youssouf Fofana, perhaps the only one who has managed to meet expectations so far. Behind the Rossoneri's crisis lies a transfer market that fell short, with big-name players who, up to now, have proven to be a flop.
This morning, La Gazzetta dello Sport addressed the team's issues and Fonseca’s role with the following headline:
“From Morata to Emerson Royal, a market failure weighs on Milan.”
