Elenito Di Liberatore, during 'Open VAR' on DAZN, commented on behalf of the AIA about Fikayo Tomori's red card in the match against Empoli:
"The VAR couldn't intervene because it's outside the protocol. If it had been a direct red, a VAR review would have been appropriate, but since it was a second yellow, the VAR was excluded."
Di Liberatore added:
"Paradoxically, if the referee had made a mistake and shown the red card, it would have been reviewed. As for the offside position, although it's a small margin, it’s a complex situation for the assistant. However, the assistant did well during the match in collaborating legitimately with the referee."
