At Milan, the French full-back Theo Hernandez is destined, for better or for worse, to always be a topic of discussion. What he is experiencing is, without fear of contradiction and surely, not his best season since wearing the Rossoneri colors, but the one who has been the captain of this team for many matches, today and during this international break, is dealing with a physical problem that is worrying Milan fans.

During Milan's last match played at San Siro, which was later won in a comeback against Como, Theo Hernandez - who started as a starter - stayed in the locker room at halftime with the Rossoneri trailing 1-0 due to Da Cunha's goal and after appearing in great difficulty. The former Real Madrid player, as revealed today by Gazzetta dello Sport, asked his coach, Sergio Conceicao, to be substituted due to a pain he felt in his calf area.

Theo Hernandez called up to the France national team

Despite the physical problem, Hernandez chose to respond to the call-up from France’s Didier Deschamps, who will face Croatia in the Nations League quarterfinals. Unlike what was done, for example, with Marcus Thuram, who was sent back to Milan by Inter to manage his long-standing ankle issue, Theo remained available for his national team. Officially, yesterday, the left-back did not train with the rest of the group, performing recovery work in the gym. Today, however, in the final training session before tomorrow's match, he started training on the field, but with a separate session from the rest of the team.

What did Didier Deschamps say about Theo?

Deschamps only briefly mentioned his condition in a press conference: "Regarding the injured players, Theo will do the first part of the training individually, but he is heading in the right direction." The feeling is therefore that the 27-year-old left-back will miss tomorrow's match in Croatia and will be available for the French head coach for the return leg, scheduled to be played in France on Sunday, March 23, at 20:45.
