Geoffrey Moncada, Milan’s technical director, spoke to Sky Sport Italia ahead of Udinese - Milan:
“They trained all week with a three-man defense, but we normally come out with three anyway, even when Walker plays instead of Tomori, to leave more space for Theo on the other side. So it’s not a completely different formation.”
A special evening for Mike Maignan. Where do things stand with his contract renewal?
“Last year in Udine was a difficult moment. We talked a lot with him during the week, we told him to focus only on the match. We’re talking, we’re communicating, but tonight’s match is more important.”
Tammy Abraham and Luka Jovic have given positive responses. Are these also important games for the future?
“It’s important to have many players who score goals, so they have to be used at the right time. I’m very happy with our forwards, they work hard for the team and tonight it’s Jovic’s time. He’s already scored two goals in the last two matches.”

Will you return to being the head scout with the new sporting director?
“My role is not important, what matters is working well for the club. My role doesn’t matter. I still do scouting, I go to watch matches, I’m with the team, and during the week I do many things for the club.”
Moncada was also interviewed by DAZN before the match...
"Maignan's contract? I think the most important thing is tonight’s match. Then, we’ve been talking for many months, I’m with him every day, there are no problems. Today the match is much more important, really.”
The situation of Luka Jovic and Tammy Abraham:
“What’s interesting is that we have three forwards, four including Francesco Camarda — we need them all. We can’t have just one, we need many players who score goals. Today is Luka’s game: he’s done well in the last two matches, and so has Tammy.”
Will Tijjani Reijnders remain central even if offers come in?
“He’s 100% with us. He’s already at the biggest club in the world, Milan. He changed countries, from AZ to Milan, and he’s already at a top level. We’re very happy with him.”
Does Milan like Lorenzo Lucca?
“We already have our Luka (Jovic), we’re good (laughs)."
