79 very long days after the last time with Feyenoord in the Champions League, Santiago Gimenez has returned to scoring with the Milan shirt.

The Mexican center-forward sealed the match against Venezia with the goal to make it 2–0, a true liberation. Sergio Conceicao had granted him just 7 minutes between the matches against Atalanta and the Coppa Italia derby, an unmistakable sign of how he is now behind Abraham and Jovic in the hierarchy.

The wheel turns for Milan...

With the score at 1–0 thanks to Pulisic’s goal, Conceicao decided to give Gimenez more playing time, sending him onto the pitch in the 65th minute. The impact on the match confirmed the difficult moment he is going through, especially on a psychological level: a weak header from an excellent Loftus-Cheek cross, and again light a few minutes later on a very promising counterattack. Then came the flash, in injury time, that could definitively turn the wheel in favor of the Mexican. A touch — not even that clean — for a lob that beat Radu. Third goal in the league for the former Feyenoord player, who can now put it all behind him.

Confidence to be regained gradually...

The goal scored against Venezia serves more for Gimenez than for Milan. The Rossoneri club has never questioned the investment over these two months without goals and with too many benches. Santi will be the striker of the new era, beyond any evaluations of Jovic and Abraham or the possibility of bringing in a new number 9. On Gimenez, the Rossoneri is going all in for the present and, above all, for the future, as relayed via Calciomercato.com.
