This morning, La Gazzetta dello Sport writes that from the weekend trip to Venice, Milan returns with three points, a rekindled passion for Gimenez, and confirmation that the new system has corrected several issues, keeping European qualification still within reach — just (or still) five points away with four matches remaining.

The final score at the Pier Luigi Penzo stadium reads Venezia 0, Milan 2, but it’s not to be misleading, because given how the match unfolded — against a team better equipped in the box — Sergio Conceição’s side could have found themselves in real trouble. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case, thanks to the ever-reliable Pulisic and the rediscovered Santi Gimenez, who handed the Rossoneri a morale-boosting victory ahead of the Coppa Italia final, scheduled for May 14 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome against Bologna.
Santiago Gimenez scores, finally...
If it hadn’t been for the goal, we’d be talking about yet another immature and disappointing performance from the Bebote: a simple header sent wide, a wasted counterattack, 14 balls played of which 6 were lost, 3 fouls committed, and two sloppy short passes. In short, it was close to a disaster.
But thanks to a brilliant pass from Tijjani Reijnders, Santiago Gimenez seized the moment — with a bit of luck on his side too. Watching the goal in slow motion, you can see that the Mexican actually struck the ball with his calf rather than the inside of his foot. Still, what matters is the outcome: the goal. And 'Bebote' has finally found the net again, two months after his last strike. Everyone had been waiting for him, and he delivered, proving that he is no longer the ghost of these recent, difficult times.
