The imperative is clear: save the future.

More precisely, save ‘Milan Futuro’ and its 12 million euros project. The young Rossoneri have shown promising signs of growth in their determination and tactical savvy, qualities that must be brought onto the pitch against opponents who are certainly more experienced. Under Italian head coach Massimo Oddo, the team is clearly improving, but the process began with a culpable delay due to a continued insistence on managerial and technical principles that were not delivering results.

What was the outcome?

A play-out with home advantage against them, meaning only one favorable result out of three possible outcomes, and against SPAL no less, despite the significant effort put in over the last two months. In the regular season, Milan won both the home and away matches against SPAL, but in the playoffs everything resets—and their opponents will have the backing of a passionate fanbase and the weight of a significant history over the past 10 years.

On Milan Futuro’s latest fixture, what a disappointment…

The draw against a Vis Pesaro side that fielded its reserves at the ‘Chinetti’ brought just one piece of good news: Davide Bartesaghi reached his 25th appearance on the match sheet and is thus eligible for selection, unlike his teammates Francesco Camarda and Alex Jimenez. The disappointment from the pitch is mixed with the satisfaction of having prepared these three players for the First Team, in addition to Serie A debuts for Bob Murphy Omoregbe and Mattia Liberali, as well as Kevin Zeroli, who was loaned to Monza, where he earned playing time and proved he belongs at that level.

  • Milan Futuro in Serie D? What happens to the players’ contracts

Top salaries and the Serie D risk…

Massimo Oddo, a former Milan full-back, is a coach with great personality and experience, enough to be a decisive factor in these two matches that represent the sporting life or death of the Milan Futuro project. The deep belief that survival is possible is definitely there, but if this U-23 AC Milan team drops to Serie D, there’s a serious risk of financial bleeding (while waiting to see if the club might be reinstated in a higher league). Unlike other relegated teams, the existing contracts would remain valid. For example, the gross 350,000 euros salaries of Magrassi and Daniele Bonera (both under contract until 2026), or the 300,000 euros gross of captain Camporese. That’s one more reason to give everything in the final two performances of Milan Futuro’s first season among the pros.

Milan must review the project

No matter what should happen next, it is clear that new decisions in this category must be taken, and fast. The technical notions must be reviewed and a deeper understanding of what the goal should be must be established, starting from Jovan Kirovski and Vincenzo Vergine to coach Massimo Oddo. Perhaps a new way of handling the player’s entry and rotation between the first team and the youth ranks must be revised as well.

The youngsters must be well taken care of, and not just on the pitch. In fact, the AC Milan U-23 project is more than just a team to compete for 90 minutes every week, on the contrary, it also serves as a vital source of emerging talent with mental strength and balance. For young footballers, finding the right equilibrium during an intensive training schedule with academic responsibilities can be quite demanding, as both require significant time and dedication. To manage this challenge, some players (and even young supporters) may seek help and guidance from essaypro.com APA paper writer service, which would allow them to stay focused on their football career development without having to give up on their education.
