Igli Tare is now just a step away from becoming the new AC Milan sporting director.
Now, speculation can begin on how the Albanian executive intends to operate in the transfer market: on one hand to strengthen the squad, and on the other to manage some painful high-profile departures which will very likely take place at Milan, especially given the absence from European competitions next season.
One of the departments that could undergo the most significant changes is the defense. This is not only due to this season’s performances but also because Theo Hernandez is set to leave, and both Tomori and Thiaw could also depart, considering how close they were to doing so in recent months.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Tare has identified Destiny Udogie, the Italian full-back who has spent the last two seasons at Tottenham, as Theo’s potential successor. For the center-back position, a solid signing will be needed, and attention should be paid to the name of Mario Gila, who has developed significantly at Lazio and was brought there by Tare himself.
