Power struggle. Al-Hilal insists, but Theo hesitates—and it’s becoming a case: That’s the headline this morning from La Gazzetta dello Sport, which explains that the Saudi club is continuing its pressure campaign to convince Theo Hernandez to accept their offer. Even the newly appointed coach, Simone Inzaghi, personally called the French player to urge him to move to Saudi Arabia.
Standing in the way of the deal, however, is primarily the left-back’s family, although the call from the former Inter coach was very well received by Theo.
Milan is watching and hoping that Theo might change his mind. He would prefer to stay in Europe, where Atlético Madrid is interested in him, but they are unlikely to match the €35 million offer made (and accepted by the Rossoneri) by the Saudis. At Casa Milan, they are desperate to avoid one scenario above all: Theo staying without renewing his contract—because that would mean losing him for free in a year.
