What started as a rumor from England has become reality: Tijjani Reijnders is a new Manchester City player. The report launched some time ago by The Guardian gradually took shape over the weeks, first becoming a negotiation and then a signed contract. A five-year agreement between the Citizens and the Dutch midfielder; Milan cashes in and bids farewell to a top player who, in a disappointing season like the last one, was among the few to stand out. Guardiola wanted him quickly to bring him to the Club World Cup, and the club granted his wish.

Why did AC Milan sell Tijjani Reijnders?
Reijnders' sacrifice was inevitable after Milan failed to qualify for the next Champions League in particular, and more generally, failed to qualify for any European competitions for the 2025/26 season. The revenues that won’t come from that side had to be made up elsewhere, and so the club had already accounted for the sale of one — or more — key players. The Dutchman was the one with the most market demand and for whom the offer received was considered the most appropriate for his level.
The ex AZ Alkmaar player, however, is not the only top player who could leave Milan. There is still strong interest from Chelsea in Mike Maignan, despite the latest offer being far from the Rossoneri’s asking price. Other Premier League clubs — and not only — are also in the background. The other hot name on the way out is Theo Hernandez: Milan has an agreement with Al-Hilal for €30 million, but the player is not convinced by the destination and is taking his time. In recent days, his agent has held talks with Atletico Madrid, but the Colchoneros’ offer for his transfer is still considered too low by the Rossoneri club.
