Despite the significant investment made last January, Santiago Gimenez is not enough for Massimiliano Allegri. Of course, the Mexican will be one of the players the team will rely on in the upcoming season, but the Milan coach intends to pair the former Feyenoord striker with another top-class forward.

It’s no coincidence that, in recent days, several big and interesting names have been linked to the Rossoneri, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport this morning, Milan are reportedly studying the possibility of making a move for Darwin Nunez from Liverpool.
Milan – Darwin Nunez: The Situation
Signed by Liverpool in the summer of 2022 for €85 million, Darwin Nunez has fallen short of expectations, scoring only 40 goals in 143 matches, whereas in his final season at Benfica he netted an impressive 34 in 41 games. This underwhelming spell could, however, make the Uruguayan an appealing target for Milan and Serie A in general, with reigning champions Napoli also said to be considering the idea.
Far from being indispensable in Arne Slot’s tactical plans, Nunez could therefore leave Liverpool this transfer window without much resistance. That said, the fact he has lost value over the past seasons does not mean the Uruguayan could arrive in Serie A (and at Milan) for a bargain price—especially since his book value at Liverpool is still estimated between €40 and €45 million. The Premier League champions cannot afford to offer major discounts, but Nunez's relatively affordable salary—around €4.7 million net per season—makes the 25-year-old player, whose contract with Liverpool runs until the summer of 2028, eager for redemption, an even more attractive prospect.
