During his usual column for TMW, transfer market expert Niccolò Ceccarini took stock of AC Milan's incoming operations, which are currently on hold after a period mainly focused on sales:
"The market is about to enter its lively phase, and one of the clubs that is moving the most during this time is Milan. The Rossoneri club wants to strengthen in all departments, but it is clear that Reijnders' departure makes an immediate investment in midfield a priority. The Rossoneri management is currently working hard on Javi Guerra from Valencia. He is the priority. It’s not an easy negotiation, given the resistance from the Spanish side. However, Tare and Allegri are convinced that he is the right profile to replace Reijnders, and for this reason, the track is very hot."
"After a first offer, the Rossoneri decided to raise their bid and have now come forward with a proposal of 21 million euros. It’s still not enough, as the asking price is 25, but Milan is confident they can eventually get a definitive yes. Meanwhile, the Xhaka operation is also moving forward in parallel. The midfielder intends to leave Leverkusen and has already given his availability to wear the Milan shirt. At this point, an agreement with the German club needs to be found. The idea was also to include a player in exchange to lower the financial demands—Thiaw could have been a solution, but Leverkusen is not interested. Milan is also moving on the offensive front."
Ceccarini continued to talk about AC Milan's market:
"Saelemaekers will return to base, but beyond him, there is the intention to sign another winger. And here, an assessment is underway on Chiesa. One of the key issues certainly concerns the salary. The player would like to return to Italy, and therefore it is a possibility not to be underestimated. This opportunity is also being evaluated by Napoli, which is looking for a replacement for Kvara [...]".
