Even yesterday, Massimiliano Allegri remained in constant contact with Tare and Furlani and was updated on the developments of the negotiations for Jashari and Athekame.

At the resumption of training this afternoon at Milanello, the coach will not find either of the two Swiss players, but in return, he will welcome Modric and Gimenez, ready to start sweating with their teammates.

In the Rossoneri training center, there will also be the sporting director Igli Tare, who will take stock of the situation with the coach regarding the next moves. It remains to be seen whether at least one between Jashari and Athekame will arrive in time to be called up for the friendlies on Saturday and Sunday against Leeds and Chelsea.

The coach's hope is to have them as soon as possible in order to integrate them into the group ahead of the Coppa Italia debut on August 17 against Bari. Among the moves that will be discussed is also the one concerning the striker still missing to complete the squad, although compared to the preseason tour, the situation will improve with the arrival of Gimenez, who is certainly more of a number "9" than Leao, who adapted (well) to the new role.

A separate chapter is deserved by the contract renewals: Allegri has personally pushed for the continued presence at Milan of Mike Maignan, to whom he has given the captain's armband despite his contract expiring in 2026.

At the end of the transfer window, the goalkeeper's situation will definitely be addressed in the hope of reaching a white smoke (i.e., successful agreement) in order not to lose him on a free transfer.

However, delicate negotiations are also expected for extending the deals with Thiaw, Tomori, Saelemaekers, Loftus-Cheek, and Pulisic (for whom the club has an option until 2028).
The idea is not to let them get to within twelve months of the contract expiration, especially because they have all played an important role in the team during this preseason.
