The Dušan Vlahović's future remains one of the central issues of this transfer market.
On one side, Milan, through sporting director Igli Tare, have confirmed their interest in the Serbian striker, even if Rasmus Højlund has been identified as the Rossoneri’s top target for the attack.
On the other, Juventus are considering keeping the player as a fallback option despite his heavy €12 million net salary, while preparing for the definitive arrival of Jonathan David and the return of Randal Kolo Muani.
In between stands Vlahović himself, who has no intention of forcing a move, preferring to remain in Turin at least until January, while eyeing a possible departure ahead of 2026, when he could leave on a free transfer.
AC Milan confirms Dusan Vlahovic interest, but Rasmus Hojlund is the priorirty...
Speaking to Mediaset before the Coppa Italia clash against Bari, Milan sporting director Igli Tare admitted that Vlahović is a concrete option, while stressing the unpredictable nature of the transfer market.
“We know we need to strengthen in that position and that a player must arrive who can give something extra to this group. Is Vlahović an option? Absolutely.”
Right now, however, Milan are working intensely to find the right profile to start the serie A campaign well. Odds for Milan’s opening matches would surely improve with the arrival of a reliable centre-forward. By the way, some punters prefer to track updates and markets through crypto sports betting sites, where the lines often reflect squad news more quickly than traditional bookies. Missing players affect expectations, even if they’re only out for friendlies or warm-up matches that don’t count toward the standings.
For now, it seems that the club is leaning more towards Rasmus Højlund. The Danish forward was left out of Manchester United’s Premier League squad against Arsenal, a clear signal of his exclusion from Ruben Amorim’s technical project.
The Rossoneri have stepped up contacts with his entourage and the English club for a loan with option to buy, with the overall deal expected not to exceed 40 million euros.
An agreement with the player is already in place at around €4 million per year. His arrival could align with the Rossoneri’s signing of interesting players, such as young talents (with potential to unleash) Ardon Jashari and Samuele Ricci.
What about Vlahovic's situation?
At Juventus, keeping Vlahović is seen as the least problematic solution, even amid a difficult atmosphere highlighted by the boos he received in the friendly against Juventus Next Gen.
The club do not want to sell him at a discount, nor contribute to his salary in the event of a transfer, preferring instead to keep paying him to see him score in black and white.
The main issue remains his 12 million euros net wage, which is out of step with the club’s current financial management. Yet no concrete, satisfactory offers have arrived.
After fending off interest from Fenerbahçe, Juventus now find themselves managing a complex case without any immediate way out.
The competition from Jonathan David and Kolo Muani...
The arrival of Jonathan David and the return of Randal Kolo Muani from PSG would completely reshape the attacking picture.
With Vlahović (124 career goals), Kolo Muani (79), and David (182), Juventus would boast a trio with 385 goals combined, giving Igor Tudor the flexibility to switch between a 3-4-2-1 and 3-4-1-2.
Even so, Vlahović risks being pushed into a secondary role. Last season he had already lost his starting spot to the Frenchman, and with the Canadian’s arrival his playing time could shrink even further, as relayed via Calcio Mercato.
That would make it even harder for him to shine – just months before a World Cup he hopes to lead with Serbia.
Will Dusan Vlahovic remain at Juventus until January?
Vlahović shows no intention of giving up the privileges of his contract and prefers to approach the coming months with determination, without pressure for an immediate transfer.
The Serbian is therefore preparing to spend at least another half-season in Turin, collecting around €6 million net while carefully weighing the opportunities that may arise in the winter window.
From his perspective, ‘DV9’ aims to maintain regular playing time to stay in the national team’s plans, while also buying time until 2026, when he could walk away for free.
Juventus, for their part, are willing to accept this forced coexistence, ready to save at least part of his costly salary should a future sale materialize.
What were Dusan Vlahovic's numbers last season with Juventus?
During the 2024/2025 season campaign, the Serbian centre-forward, formerly of Serie A outfit Fiorentina, made 44 appearances across all competitions, including the FIFA Club World Cup which started mid-June. In total, he scored 17 goals and provided 5 assists. Overall, he managed to clock almost 2700 minutes on the pitch. For the record, he was signed for a whopping fee of 83.5 million euros in total from Fiorentina in the winter of 2022.
What is certain, though, is that Vlahovic is familiar with the AC Milan boss, as he spent quite a bit of time training with Allegri at Juventus. His integration within the Rossoneri environment could be facilitated by that fact.
