Matteo Moretto, in a video published on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, revealed some behind-the-scenes details about Milan’s transfer dealings:
On Luka Modric’s contract:
"I want to point out a detail regarding Luka Modric’s contract with Milan. The Croatian has already shown that he can perform well in our league. Modric signed a one-year deal with an option for another season. This option is entirely in the player’s hands, meaning it will be Modric who decides at the end of the year what to do. This is an important season because it leads into the World Cup, after which Modric wants the freedom to choose whether to continue at Milan or to completely change his life. We’ll see what the former Real Madrid man decides to do."

On Adrien Rabiot:
"Rabiot was the absolute protagonist of the final part of Milan’s summer transfer window. After the defeat against Cremonese, Milan decided to speed things up and go all-in for Rabiot. Contacts became more and more frequent until the deal was finalized. It was an important signing that raises the quality and physical presence of Milan’s midfield. Rabiot was strongly wanted by Allegri. I want to highlight the full details of the deal: the two clubs agreed on €7 million fixed plus €2.5 million in bonuses. Rabiot signed a three-year contract with an option for a fourth, earning €3.5 million net per season."
On the possible Samuel Chukwueze - Nico González swap:
"We’re talking about a potential swap deal that could have gone through in the final days of the market. It was an idea that, however, didn’t move forward because Milan decided to take another route, and even the players involved pursued other options. We’re talking about Samuel Chukwueze and Nico González. Both were set to leave Milan and Juventus, but in the end Nico González went to Atlético Madrid on a paid loan with an option to buy, which can become an obligation, while Chukwueze moved to Fulham on a paid loan with an option to buy for just under €30 million. The idea of a swap existed, but it never materialized."
