Even yesterday, the first group training session of the week ahead of Sunday night’s clash with Bologna at San Siro, Rafael Leao continued working separately as planned in his recovery program following the calf muscle injury. The goal for the Portuguese forward and Allegri’s staff is clear: to have the number 10 available for the ex Juventus coach, at least for a place on the bench, in the upcoming match.

Four training sessions
According to Corriere dello Sport, from now until the game against Bologna, scheduled for 20:45 at San Siro, Milan and Rafael Leao still have four training sessions: today, tomorrow, Friday, and the pre-match session on Saturday. In this period, the hope is to see him, starting tomorrow when all the internationals will be back, working with the rest of the squad and ready to at least make the bench. During this break both Rafa Leao and Christopher Nkunku also used the days off to train at Milanello: Leao to recover from injury, Nkunku to reach full fitness as soon as possible.
Goal target
The last memory Milan fans have of Rafael Leao before his substitution due to the calf issue in the Coppa Italia match against Bari is the goal he scored just seconds earlier. With a striker’s header, the number 10 opened Milan’s scoring account for the season. And it is a San Siro goal he is chasing now, as he has gone too long without one in Serie A. The last time he scored in the league at home was against Salernitana in May 2024, in the season finale that marked the farewells of Pioli, Giroud, and Kjaer. Last season, all eight of his Serie A goals came away from home. The aim, with Allegri now on the bench, is to raise his scoring output.
