Adrien Rabiot’s last official match as a starter dates back to August 15, when in Rennes he lost in dramatic fashion Marseille’s league opener, the one marked by the now well-known clash with Rowe in the Roazhon Park dressing room, which sealed the end of his time with OM.

Excluded from the squad afterward, the protégé of Max Allegri has since collected only a little over 30 minutes of playing time, coming with France during the recent international break.

In constant contact with his coach, Rabiot had assured Milan’s manager and his staff that he was in good condition, but everyone at Milanello was waiting for the pitch to confirm it. By the looks of it, the response was more than convincing.

Rabiot sprinting toward a starting spot

The physical tests Adrien Rabiot underwent yesterday surprised everyone, in a positive way. During preseason with Marseille, the French midfielder worked hard and well, building strong fitness reserves. Yesterday he showed what he is made of, adding the right mix of enthusiasm and adrenaline for the start of this new chapter in his career.

Rabiot is fully aware of the opportunity in front of him, which is why he has no intention of letting anyone down, especially Allegri, who pushed hard to reunite with him. Thanks to that and his excellent physical condition, the Frenchman is quickly moving toward a starting role against Bologna. It might seem risky, given he only arrived at Milanello yesterday, but based on the tests it is not an option to be ruled out, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper in this morning's print edition. Should Rabiot start as the left-sided midfielder, Milan’s setup would change significantly.
