Yesterday marked an important step toward the new stadium for Milan and Inter.

The Milan City Council approved the resolution for the sale of San Siro and the surrounding areas to the two clubs. The matter now moves to the City Council Assembly, which will issue its decision by the end of September.

While most details of the sale are already known, few certainties exist about the stadium itself, apart from a planned capacity of 71,500 seats and the possibility that the project will bear the signature of Sir Norman Foster. This was reported this morning by Corriere della Sera.

Norman Foster, born in Manchester in 1935, is one of the most renowned architects in the world. He is the leading figure of Foster and Partners, the studio behind iconic buildings, museums, bridges, stations, and also stadiums, as relayed via Milannews.it.

In sports, two stand out, both designed with Populous: the new Wembley, inaugurated in 2007, and the Lusail Stadium, which hosted 10 matches of the World Cup in Qatar, including the final between Argentina and France.
