Several months remain before his contract with Milan expires, but it now seems certain that Mike Maignan will leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season. Negotiations for a renewal have been stalled for a long time and have not resumed, making the departure of the Milan goalkeeper and captain increasingly likely. With his exit, the Rossoneri will need to find a new goalkeeper on the market, and the search appears to have already begun.

Who are on AC Milan's radar?

According to Tuttosport, Milan’s top three targets are Noah Atubolu from Freiburg, Marco Carnesecchi from Atalanta, and Elia Caprile from Cagliari. Currently, the profile that interests Milan the most is the 23-year-old German, although many European clubs are also tracking him. His current contract runs until 2027 and includes a €20 million release clause, an affordable figure that will likely attract significant competition. The two Italian goalkeepers come with higher costs: Carnesecchi is valued around €40 million, while Caprile, bought by Cagliari last summer for €8 million, now costs three times that. Suzuki from Parma also remains on Milan’s list.

Inter are also looking for a new goalkeeper:

Milan’s targets Atubolu, Carnesecchi, and Caprile could face competition from Inter, who will also need a new goalkeeper as Yann Sommer is expected to leave at the end of the season. In the coming months, market battles could break out between the clubs for these three targets. Unless something changes and Maignan’s contract talks reopen, which currently seems very unlikely
