In an interview with 'La Gazzetta dello Sport', former Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta spoke about the competition in Milan’s attack:
“For me, someone like Leao should never be left out. But now I’d be in a hurry: either he gives answers or others play. Together with Pulisic, they can hurt any defense. A squad this deep ensures internal competition. Nkunku is strong, and Gimenez is very interesting. He reminds me of Crespo at Parma, even though Santi has a problem with scoring."

Costacurta added:
"But he plays not well, but very well, stretches the defense, presses opponents, and knows how to combine. Aside from the top players already mentioned, he’s been one of the most positive in the team. And as Ancelotti used to say about Hernan: if a player keeps creating chances, goals will come sooner or later.”
What did Costacurta say about Rafael Leao?
"Even the first goal against Fiorentina shows improvement. Rafa rarely used to hit the target from outside the box. This time he did. The goalkeeper can make a mistake, but the key is aiming at the goal. And even the penalty is something new. Whether it’s positive or negative depends on him. Positive because it could help him score 15–20 goals, giving him confidence that playing higher up can unlock him. It’s a way to approach the role with a new mindset. Negative because I hope he doesn’t score one penalty and then feel satisfied. It must not reduce his commitment.”
