In recent days, there has been a lot of talk about a possible loan move of Son Heung-Min to Milan during the MLS break this winter, in the style of David Beckham in 2009 and 2010. This is not just a transfer rumor, but a real possibility, confirmed by Oh Hyeon-gyu, Son's national team teammate and Genk star.
In an exclusive interview with journalist Alessandro Schiavone for MilanNews.it, Oh said he is sure the South Korean star could still make a difference in a top league despite being 33.
Oh, there has been a lot of talk about a possible loan of Son Heung-Min to Milan. Knowing him and playing with him in the national team, do you confirm these rumors?
"I confirm it, but it will be up to him to decide. Everything is possible."
In recent years at Tottenham, he was in decline... Does Son still have the level for a league like Serie A?
"He still has the quality! And that makes me think he could do well at a big club like Milan or elsewhere. He will decide if he wants to go to Milan during the MLS break."
What do you dream of doing in the future?
"My dream is to join a very big club one day. But for now, my focus is on Genk. I am very disappointed about missing that opportunity (Oh hit the post against Betis Sevilla in the second half). I should have scored."
But first, there is the World Cup. Twenty-four years after Byron Moreno and the home semifinal, can Son and Oh’s South Korea reach the top four again?
"That is our dream. Our path in World Cup qualifiers was excellent. We are preparing well. In the last match against Paraguay we did well, while the game against Brazil will help us improve. We are ready."
