Andrea Longoni, in the latest video on his YouTube channel 'Milan Hello', interviewed Peppe Di Stefano, who shared many anecdotes and insights about Milan and Milanello. When asked what Milan would need in the January transfer window to strengthen the squad, Di Stefano replied:
“Milan definitely needs a defender, it’s a numerical issue. After the first 20 minutes of Milan-Roma, I would have said two, because De Winter didn’t seem in sync with the Rossoneri shirt. Then, when he came off, Milan played a great match, a second half without any mistakes. So Milan definitely needs a defender, and not an ordinary one. If you are looking for Akanji at the end of the market, it’s because the coach knows that this type of player is needed. Right now, Milan’s defense is performing at 180 out of 180. If you add a strong defender to a unit that is already doing well, one improves in training, and two raises the level of the others.”
A note on Milan's Youssouf Fofana:
"Some locker-room talk tells me there was one Fofana before Rabiot arrived and a different Fofana after. After Rabiot arrived, as a coach I would never give up on Fofana, he has intensity, physicality, he rips the ball from opponents’ feet, he has become an important player today. Rabiot has been a training influence for Fofana. The same would apply to the defense."
