Paolo Maldini was a legend for Milan and, more broadly, a legend of world football, still recognized today among the greatest players in history. Tributes continue to arrive even though he retired almost twenty years ago.
The latest came from his on-field rival Beppe Bergomi, who was Inter's captain for many years. The former defender and current Sky Sport analyst spoke on a podcast.
Beppe Bergomi said: "In a footballer's career, the moments of difficulty outweigh the moments of victory. For example, for me the strongest Italian player I ever played with was Paolo Maldini. He played for 21 years and lost more than he won," as relayed via Milan News.
