"The Rossoneri are dreaming big. Modric nonstop, for the Scudetto there is the Lazio trap"
This is the headline of La Gazzetta dello Sport this morning ahead of tonight’s Milan game against the Biancocelesti at San Siro. A win would move the Rossoneri to the top of the standings for at least one night, while waiting for the result of tomorrow night’s big match between league leaders Roma and Napoli, who sit level on points with Milan, two behind the Giallorossi.
Luka Modric will once again lead Milan in midfield, now an indispensable player for Max Allegri. Tonight he will play his thirteenth consecutive league match as a starter. He was only substituted by the Livorno coach in the first round against Cremonese; since then, the former Real Madrid player has played the full 90 minutes in the next eleven league matches. "In the five top European leagues there is no other forty-year-old like him, and examples are rare worldwide, even in less competitive leagues. You have to look to Saudi Arabia (a certain Cristiano Ronaldo) and Brazil (Thiago Silva) to find someone whose ID starts with a four and is still able to maintain such consistency in playing time and performance," writes La Gazzetta dello Sport.
