To have Niclas Füllkrug available for tomorrow night’s match against Cagliari at the Unipol Domus, Milan must complete a number of formal steps, following specific procedures and timelines.
Tomorrow, Friday 2 January, the winter transfer window for the 2025/26 season officially opens. Under normal circumstances, there would not be enough time to register new players, but this would have created an imbalance, as teams playing later in the same matchday would instead have been able to field any new signings.
For this reason, Milan and Cagliari sent a formal letter to the FIGC, which accepted the request. The statement reads:
“The Federal Council resolves to authorize, solely for the match Cagliari–Milan on 2 January 2026, the use of players whose registration start date coincides with the date of the match, subject to the issuance of the certificate of enforceability by Lega Serie A and on the condition that the electronic submission of registration requests is completed by 4:00 pm on the day of the match.”
