This morning’s edition of Tuttosport leads with the headline:
"Maignan Rossonero for life: renewal until 2031!"
Mike Maignan is edging ever closer to extending his contract, which is due to expire on 30 June. The Rossoneri’s proposal is as follows: a fixed base salary of €5.5 million plus bonuses, and a longer contract duration, five years instead of the three-year deal with an option that had been put forward in January 2025 before later being revised downwards.
At Casa Milan, there is still a low-key approach because the most important step is yet to come, namely the Frenchman’s signature, but there is nevertheless a strong sense of confidence. Tuttosport explains what has changed in Maignan’s mindset:
In fact, Maignan, who in the summer had promised Allegri the utmost professionalism regardless of his contractual situation, has seen the changes at corporate level and how much the atmosphere at Milanello (and beyond) has improved compared to last season.
A competitive team fighting at the top of the table, a healthy dressing room all pulling in the same direction, a coach who has restored a certain mentality that had been lost, and a goalkeeping coach like Claudio Filippi who has become part of Maignan’s working system are some of the key factors that have led the Frenchman to reconsider his position. It goes without saying that the senior figures in the squad have also urged him to renew.”
