AC Milan’s transfer strategy looks to the present, but at the same time also to next season, under the guidance of sporting director Igli Tare and chief executive Giorgio Furlani.
The club’s transfer team is focusing in particular on players whose contracts expire on 30 June 2026, viewing them as potentially cost-effective opportunities. According to Sky Sport, one of the names on Milan’s radar is Leon Goretzka.
Milan's midfield reinforcement?
Massimiliano Allegri continues to ask the club for signings with significant experience to raise the level of the entire squad. In midfield especially, where it remains unclear whether and how Luka Modrić might be retained next season, the club is keen to try to complete a move that would further strengthen the team.
From this perspective, Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka, born in 1995, is coming to the end of his contract at the end of the season. He will turn 31 in February and, at present, there are no indications of a possible renewal with the Bavarian club. This season he has made 24 appearances and scored one goal, as pointed out by Calcio Mercato.
Goretzka is therefore a potential free-transfer target. As reported by Sky Sport, Milan have officially requested information, primarily from the player’s entourage, to assess his interest in a move to Italy and, above all, the financial terms required to make the transfer happen.
January or June?
Goretzka remains an important figure for Bayern Munich, even if his role, especially in the Champions League, has been reduced to that of a squad player. It is unlikely that Bayern would let him leave in January without financial compensation, while a move becomes far more realistic in June.
