Suddenly intense and frantic hours at Casa Milan, with the Rossoneri trying to wrap up, somewhat unexpectedly, the Jean-Philippe Mateta deal. Milan have already reached an agreement with Crystal Palace to sign the striker next summer but, strengthened by an understanding also reached with the player, they would like to bring everything forward to this winter transfer window. To take him to Milan, however, the situation surrounding Christopher Nkunku also needs to be clarified.
The former Chelsea and RB Leipzig forward is the leading candidate to make room in Allegri’s squad for the potential arrival of Mateta. Gianluca Di Marzio summed up the situation as follows, also considering that Fenerbahce have shifted their focus to Lookman and are therefore likely out of the race for Nkunku: "Milan’s confidence in getting Mateta immediately is growing. As for Nkunku, the interest from Roma (among others) is real, but the player has not yet given the green light."
