Giuseppe Bergomi spoke to Sky Sport microphones about the situation concerning the presidency of the Italian Football Federation and Italian football. The former Inter defender put forward Paolo Maldini’s name for the role: here are his words.
Bergomi suggests Maldini's name:
"I would put myself forward, of course, but a different kind of reflection is needed. Wearing the Italy shirt carries weight; it has given me so much, but I do not have an executive career and therefore I would propose someone with experience like Paolo Maldini, the greatest Italian I have ever played with. I’ll leave it at that," as relayed via Milan Press.
And Minister Abodi commented as follows
The Minister for Sport, Andrea Abodi, had spoken about it earlier in the morning on RTL 102.5:
“Tardelli suggests Maldini? A wonderful person. He was a fantastic footballer, but there are many others, and these matters should be decided by the football system.”
