There is one thing that at Milanello they should not even consider: allowing their own house to be disrupted in order to fix a failure they did not create. The national team has ended its (brief) Gattuso cycle after failing to qualify for the World Cup, and now, among the names being considered for the role of head coach, Massimiliano Allegri has also emerged. Fine, that is the FIGC’s problem, not Milan’s.

The ex Juventus head coach is currently in charge of the Rossoneri, has a significant contract, has started a long-term project, and only a few weeks ago spoke of being in “complete harmony” with the club. In other words: Milan has no obligation to take responsibility for other people’s mistakes.
If Allegri is needed by Italy, then perhaps he was not so finished after all.
There is a contradiction surrounding the narrative of Massimiliano Allegri that is almost comical. For months, the Milan coach has been portrayed as outdated, stuck in the football of five years ago, never evolving, 'washed up', so to speak. And yet, the moment the system collapses, he suddenly becomes the man to rebuild the national team (if not the entire Italian football movement). Strange, isn’t it? Or perhaps not. Perhaps the truth is simpler than many would like to admit: Allegri may not be a prophet of aesthetic football, but he remains a credible, authoritative, and recognisable coach, someone who brings structure, management, and accountability. And indeed, today he is considered one of the most serious candidates for the national team bench, as pointed out by Milan News.
AC Milan must defend its project.
The point, then, is simple: Milan must protect itself. It chose Allegri, entrusted him with a project, got itself back on track, and cannot afford to disrupt newly restored balance just to plug the national team’s gap. Italian football needs to rebuild? Certainly, but not at Milan’s expense. The Rossoneri should keep things straightforward: defend their principles, their coach, their project, and their contract. Especially since, it seems, this supposedly outdated and unsuitable Allegri is exactly the man everyone turns to when there is a real fire to put out.
