After the match between AC Milan and Udinese, Adrien Rabiot commented on his team’s defeat to Sky Sport. Here are his statements:
Do you sense the coach is worried? How is he handling it?
"He was calm. He told us to stay relaxed, that the objective is still there and that we have to go and achieve it. We need to switch our focus immediately and think about Verona. Stay calm, composed, and work well this week. He was very calm."
Why have things gone so badly in this second part of the season?
"I think it’s a physical and mental drop, a bit of fatigue, that’s true. In this match we showed less solidity, and we know that when we defend well, we score and win. Today we were disorganised, we conceded two goals and were all over the pitch. The one thing we mustn’t do is panic when we go two goals down and try to recover immediately in a rushed way. We have to keep working, stay calm, because we’re in third place. We need to focus on the match against Verona."
Were you lacking clarity as well?
"Yes, that’s fair. We all made mistakes, starting with me. I also lacked clarity in certain situations. Especially with preventive marking – the coach always talks about it before the match and at half-time – we lost focus because we wanted to score and pushed too many players forward. And it’s true that at that moment on the pitch I also lost the clarity to look around and tell others to stay more focused. We’ll review this and talk about it."
You tried a lot but were a bit unlucky:
"Yes, that’s also been an issue lately. We create many chances but don’t convert them. And when you also defend badly, you concede goals. So we need to work on all of this.”
Would you like to say something to the fans?
"I can understand the boos, especially because it was a heavy defeat. What disappointed me was the boos directed at Rafael Leão, because in my opinion we need to help and support him, and that doesn’t help him. We’re all in this together until the end, so that was a bit unpleasant.”
