In addition to the usual sporting director Igli Tare, who is present almost every day at Milanello alongside the team, yesterday the Rossoneri CEO Giorgio Furlani was also seen at the sports centre in Carnago. He first watched the training session of the Milan side preparing for tomorrow’s away match against Hellas Verona, and then had lunch with Massimiliano Allegri. The Italian coach is regarded by Milan as the driving force behind the club’s resurgence in the league and also as the future architect of their European rebuild.
AC Milan wants to move forward with Allegri:
This was reported this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport, which explains that during yesterday’s lunch they discussed not only the present and how to get out of the difficult moment, but also, naturally, the future and the upcoming season, in which the Rossoneri are expected to return to playing in the UEFA Champions League. Allegri wants a more competitive Milan to challenge for the league title and to perform well in Europe, and for this reason he is asking for a deeper squad with at least one major signing in each department. The club wants to satisfy him and, as also requested by Allegri himself, involve him more in transfer decisions and in the decision-making chain.
Yesterday’s meeting was just one of many that will take place in the coming weeks between the coach and the management, who continue to reiterate to everyone that the club’s intention is to move forward with “Max” next season and beyond. Despite the many rumours circulating, particularly the speculation about a possible future for the ex Juventus coach on the Italy national team bench, no concern is filtering out from Casa Milan. Today at 12:00 CEST Allegri will speak at a press conference ahead of the trip to Verona, and there will certainly be questions about the future, even though at the moment the Milan coach has only one focus: returning to winning after two consecutive defeats and getting back on track towards qualification for the next Champions League. There will be time later to think about the future and the next season.
