Christopher Nkunku is one of the players likely to say goodbye at the end of the season. The Frenchman arrived last summer from Chelsea for €37 million plus bonuses, making him one of the club’s most expensive signings in recent years. However, his performances so far have not justified that investment.
Nkunku, a season with few highs
After a necessary period of adaptation, both physically and to his new environment, by the end of 2025 the former Leipzig player had found good form and consistency, despite an ankle issue. Between late December and early February, he scored 5 goals in 6 appearances, but then ended up losing his way again.
In Reggio Emilia, a chance with Leão
As reported by Gazzetta.it, Nkunku now has four matches to convince Allegri and Milan to continue relying on him for next season. He immediately has an important opportunity against Sassuolo where, barring changes, he is expected to start from the first minute alongside Rafael Leão. It will be his second start in the last 10 matches, the previous one having come in Naples. This season he has scored 6 goals in 31 appearances, one every 216 minutes. Four matches will not change his life, but they could offer some hope for a future in red and black.
