"Inter, Schenone at the prosecutor’s office. According to the public prosecutor, he met Rocchi before the derby at San Siro": this is the headline this morning in La Repubblica, which explains that this morning Giorgio Schenone, the Inter official responsible for relations with referees, is to face questioning by prosecutor Maurizio Ascione, who is investigating the alleged “referee scandal” that may have influenced last season’s Serie A championship.
The well-known newspaper writes:
“The appointment is scheduled for this morning at the prosecutor’s office in Milan. The first of a long day. Before prosecutor Maurizio Ascione, who is investigating the alleged ‘referee scandal’ that may have influenced last season’s Serie A championship, Giorgio Schenone will speak as a witness, the Inter official responsible for relations with referees."
"The prosecution’s hypothesis is that at the now famous (and suspicious) meeting at San Siro on 2 April 2025, the day of the alleged ‘fixing arrangement’ regarding referees more or less favourable to the Nerazzurri, together with the then refereeing chief Gianluca Rocchi, now under investigation and self-suspended, there was also the club’s referee manager. Afterwards, it will be the turn of two other prominent figures: Dino Tommasi, Rocchi’s successor after the judicial storm; and Antonio Zappi, former president of the referees’ association, who lost his position after the confirmation of a thirteen-month ban."
