The heat, the beautiful days, the increasing hours of sunshine, the uncertainty surrounding Milan’s management future: it’s May, and everything is happening at once. As has been the case for the past three years, this period arrives and war breaks out at Casa Milan with no holds barred. By now, everything is out in the open — there are no more behind-the-scenes stories or unspoken matters. It’s May, the team is in extreme difficulty on the pitch, and nobody yet knows who will be in charge of Milan next year. Gianluca Di Marzio, live on Sky Sport 24, provided an update on the situation. Massimiliano Allegri, Giorgio Furlani, Igli Tare, Zlatan Ibrahimović: here are all the latest updates from the Sky journalist.

Igli Tare's future:

“If Allegri secures Champions League qualification, an automatic one-year extension will be triggered at six million euros net, making it two more years in total. I have no indication that he wants to step aside. If Milan want to make a change, they would have to deal with a very significant contract. From what Peppe says, and from what I’m hearing too, Tare will not be the sporting director next year. First, Milan need to understand who the sporting director will be, who will be the leading figure at ownership level, and then speak with Allegri to see whether the conditions are there for him to stay.”

On Massimiliano Allegri:

“If Milan have other ideas, they will make their calculations, move on from Allegri, and appoint another coach such as Vincenzo Italiano, who was already strongly considered in Furlani’s plans last year. But I wouldn’t say Allegri’s adventure with Milan is already over, quite the opposite. I would still wait before leaning one way or the other.”

What will be Furlani's future at AC Milan?

“Meanwhile, Tare will no longer be the sporting director, then we’ll see whether Giorgio Furlani remains and who will be in charge. There are different factions within Milan — even the walls have understood that by now. It will be necessary to understand what the direction and the guidelines will be.”

“There is also the national team issue to consider: who will be chosen by the new federation? Allegri could have a chance, and there’s Antonio Conte as well. Another idea is to appoint a free agent coach such as Claudio Ranieri or Roberto Mancini, who has said he would return. That way, you wouldn’t be trying to prise away a coach already under contract. In any case, I think the situation between SSC Napoli and Conte will be decided before 20 June," as relayed via Milannews.it.
