Massimo Calvelli is becoming increasingly involved with AC Milan.
The former CEO of the ATP, who joined RedBird Capital Partners about a year ago and has served as an operating partner since last July, is becoming more and more involved with the Rossoneri club. He was also present at last Thursday’s meeting in London, where the fund’s owner Gerry Cardinale wanted to hear from all the club’s executives, including Giorgio Furlani and Zlatan Ibrahimović. He is regularly present at San Siro, and yesterday he was alongside Cardinale at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa, where Milan played a crucial match in taking another step towards qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
From the beginning of last November, Calvelli was officially appointed to the Board of Directors of the Rossoneri club. As the months have passed, his role has grown, and he now represents one of Cardinale’s key points of reference in Milan. In fact, the former ATP executive enjoys the owner’s trust, although according to the latest reports he has no ambitions to become the next CEO of the Milan club. Will the likely managerial revolution at Milan also pass through him? What role will he have at the end of the season, when assessments are made regarding the work carried out by the club’s entire management team?
Starting with Igli Tare and including Giorgio Furlani, everyone is under evaluation, and within a week more should become clear regarding the possible corporate restructuring. The club is waiting for the final matchday of the league season, when qualification for the Champions League could become mathematically certain, before drawing a line and correcting the mistakes that were acknowledged even by Cardinale himself. This was reported via Milan News today.
