Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport carries this headline on its front page this morning: "San Siro, it’s up to you. The roar of the 70,000 for Milan in the Champions League." Tomorrow evening, the Rossoneri will play at home against Cagliari Calcio in the final match of the season, which will be decisive for qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League. The team managed by Massimiliano Allegri, who decided to spend a few days in a training retreat at Milanello in order to prepare as well as possible for this match and keep away the many rumours surrounding the club’s future, will have the support of a virtually sold-out San Siro.
Ahead of this match, the Rossoneri coach will welcome back his key figure in midfield: Luka Modrić, absent in recent matches because of a fractured cheekbone suffered at the end of April against Juventus FC, is set to return to the starting line-up in front of the defence. Allegri has three selection doubts: on the right side of midfield, Samuele Ricci is favoured over Youssouf Fofana, while on the right wing Alexis Saelemaekers is ahead of Athekame. In attack, alongside Christopher Nkunku, there should be Santiago Giménez, who is competing for a starting spot with Niclas Füllkrug.
