Gianluca Di Marzio, a transfer market expert for Sky Sport, said this on his podcast about Milan’s new manager:
“But do you know which names were on Milan’s dream shortlist a few months ago? There were three names: Cesc Fàbregas, Enzo Maresca, and Xabi Alonso. All three, for one reason or another, are now out of reach.
Fàbregas because he will not leave Como, especially after securing qualification for the Champions League. Xabi Alonso because he signed with Chelsea just a few weeks ago.
Enzo Maresca because he will be the new manager of Manchester City. Today Milan are dealing with a difficult decision, one that must also represent a sign of change.”
