In a video published on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano commented on Milan’s upheaval and the club’s interest in Andoni Iraola as a replacement for Max Allegri:
“A part of Milan has collapsed after Cardinale’s major decisions: the departure of Allegri and, above all, most of the management, with Furlani, Tare, and Moncada all leaving. It was a strong decision by Cardinale, with Ibrahimović by his side. For the future of the bench, the name of Andoni Iraola has emerged: it’s a name that is circulating. The Spaniard has left Bournemouth, who replaced him with Marco Rose. Iraola did a fantastic job at Bournemouth; he has been one of the best coaches in England in recent seasons in terms of quality of football and playing style, and he managed to withstand the impact despite player sales. Bournemouth sold their most important players in every transfer window, but that was never a problem for Iraola, who always managed to start over and rebuild, even taking Bournemouth into Europe. In short, he did an incredible job, attracting the attention of several clubs."
"He was on Manchester United’s shortlist, before they decided to continue with Carrick. He is also highly appreciated by Liverpool, who will however continue with Slot. He came close to Tottenham, but Bournemouth did not want to release him, and he was also considered by Chelsea. Iraola currently has two offers in hand: one from Bayer Leverkusen and one from Crystal Palace. Palace see him as the perfect coach to continue qualifying for Europe, while the Germans have been courting him for weeks, but Iraola preferred to wait to see whether other opportunities might arise."
Matteo Moretto then revealed this detail about Iraola and Milan:
"There is an important detail regarding Milan’s interest in Iraola: during the course of last week, the Rossoneri already met the Spanish coach in England. So there has already been a face-to-face meeting between the parties to understand what kind of project they could potentially build together."
