With Iraola now seemingly out of reach, Milan are exploring several different profiles in order to find the right man to take charge of the Rossoneri bench. In the last few hours, there have been positive contacts with Mauricio Pochettino, the current USA national team coach, who previously managed Tottenham and Chelsea. Fabrizio Romano discussed the situation on YouTube:
"If Milan were to choose Pochettino among the various candidates, the connection between Pochettino and Ramon Planes, former Barcelona sporting director, who has just left Al Ittihad, where he won two titles, should be kept in mind. He is the director who brought Pedri to Barcelona and discovered Araujo. In short, he has an impressive résumé. The Pochettino-Planes connection should not be overlooked. Whenever Pochettino has been linked with other opportunities, or Planes himself has been considered for other roles, there has always been a strong understanding between them. I would not be surprised if, should Milan choose Pochettino, Ramon Planes became the preferred executive figure as well. But that will depend on who Milan ultimately choose, on both fronts.”
